CHOSEN OBJECT

As a student of Architecture, the object to be used as a model had to be a reflection of design and structure. Consequently, the object chosen was a human hand. My hand.

The chosen 'object'

As a student practicing in the art of design, the hand is the most paramount tool available. Whether it is hand drafting, sketching, model making and even computer modelling, without the hand, all these are impossible. From this tool, art and therefore architecture is born.

The human hand is responsible for creating architecture

Through the study of the human hand as a 'user' of architecture; door knobs, railings and windows, architecture and form is guided by the human hand. Additionally, an understanding of structure is conveyed simply by looking and admiring the construction of bone, nerves and muscle within the human hand.

Bones are symbolic of structure
